Hello dear readers,
do you know German "Kirmes"? It is a amusement park which moves from city to city or takes place only for a few days
We just had a big "Kirmes" in summer and now a smaller one in October, known as the "Herbst Kirmes"(autumn amusement park)
It was placed next to the river "Rhein" in the city of my studies Düsseldorf (west Germany) and I went there to have a look at what it offers. You can see the lights of the entrance at the promenade on the right side. The black left is the Rhine-river.
There are different costers and attractions as you can see in amusement parks like Disney Land.
But there are also boothes which can only be seen at "Kirmes, like this one where you can play soccer and try to hit a whole with the ball to win a price
There is also a scooter attraction, but it can be very harsh. Usually adults ride it or kids ride it with a parent.
The concept is that you can enter the area for free and pay for the attractions and games.
For example here, you can throw a ball against bins and if they all fall, you can win prizes like toys or earphones and other stuff.
You can also eat a lot there e.g. sausages, steaks, mushrooms with bread and potato sticks. There are also lots of sweets.
On the left of the picture you can see mustard and Ketchup to put on the sausage
There are also sold warm jackets and huts, because of the cold weather.
On the day I went, there was a small firework. It was small but pretty
The autumn "Kirmes" was very small compared to the one in July. Also, there are coming many people from other cities to feel the atmosphere of the big event
They also do fireworks in summer. A firework is always spectacular for German people, because you are not allowed to do private fireworks here.
It is different compared to Japan, where "Temochi hanabi" is common in summer.
In Germany firecracker are only sold on the last days of the year to celebrate the new Year´s day.
Anyways, the "Kirmes" is fun to visit for the whole family and always a nice experience for my foreign friends
I recommend you to visit a German "Kirmes" if you have the chance to! Have lots of fun!
